lacking in motivation

For some reason, I was way more in to blogging this summer.  I think it's because over the summer everything was new and exciting- and while everything is all new and exciting, this has really become my job now.  It's hard to write about every day of your life!  I really admire people who keep diaires...I just can't seem to do it!

The people here in this little village have been amazingly receptive and appreciative of the work we do.  I have never had so many people tell me how wonderful I am, and what a fabulous thing I am doing for the community.  They're all so impressed that Shirnest and I can wrangle up 50 kids get them to do a show in just three and a half days really, since we had a Friday show.

In addition to singing our praises, the adults certainly have show us a good time.  The cops came to our Halloween party with a noise complaint, because people were playing the bongos too loudly outside on the front porch.  We also truly celebrated the "Day of the Dead" (which, let's face it, is really what Halloween is about) By writing messages to our dead loved ones and placing them in shrines around the yard.  We then burned them at midnight and passed them on into the afterlife.  Our host was afraid we would all think she was crazy, but it was actually pretty cool.  Plus the shrines she made were just so thoughtful and cute!

Some of the kids came to the party with their parents once that had finished their trick or treating rounds.  Fortunately it was only delightful elementary school kids who I was quite happy to see!  One of the drew us the cutest picture of the characters in "The Little Mermaid"- he even drew the seasiders in their sitting/kneeling/standing picture positions!  The best part was probably the fact that he drew Gil, the merboy next door and he gave him some very fine looking scales- and a seashell bra (which he of course drew on all of the mermaids too).  Disney obviously did not have enough male examples in their film for him to base his drawing on, so poor Gil ended up feminized.  But half the time it's a girl playing that part anyway....

We're back to the States tomorrow!  So my cell phone silence ends! (Okay, so I did take ONE call, but that's because it was from friends who I knew were at JMU homecoming...which is where I really REALLY wanted to be this week.)

I can understand it being hard to write every day. It will probably end up that you only write when you have funny stories to tell. I am ok with that as long as I get to skype with you fairly often!
