workin' it out kid style

Today I taught the scouts the "Charlie Tuna" schtick that they do, and the kid I ended up giving it decided to rap "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" so we all decided he needed a beat-boxing companion.  Well our contact's daughter jumped right in and rocked it out, so needless to say, it's her.  She and the boy playing the actual fish were both super excited and decided told me that they would practice and they could, and I quote, "work it out at recess".

This is why I love my job.  When kids get so enthusiastic that they give up their free time to improve upon their performance in the play.

Today Brendan and I were told that we were awesome at our jobs, that we had so much energy and really seemed to be enjoying ourselves with the kids.  And this is a town that's been bringing Missoula in for about nine years now I do believe.  It made me really happy.

Tomorrow is a real work day- we are showing up at the school to do workshops and working straight through until we are done with rehearsal at five.  The kids get out of school at 12:30 tomorrow, so rehearsal starts early.  And then?  Off to Seattle to see some manner of theatre that doesn't involve seahorses or incredibly repetitive songs and/or plot devices!  Not that I don't love our shows, but every once in a while you long for something a little grittier.  And frankly, I have not seen a play since I started working, so it will be a very welcome change!
