summertime finale

Well that's that.  Yesterday was our last show of our summer tour.  I wanted to be sad, but honestly between shows all I wanted was for the second show to be over and for the truck to be packed up and us on our way.  The headache I had certainly didn't help.  Plus it was the first time that we had a 3:00 and 5:30 show, where the kids just stay at the performance venue until after the second show is over and don't really get a significant break between shows where they go home for a little while.  Frankly, I think 3:00 and 7:00 shows are better.

I am definitely ready for a break from children.  Don't get me wrong, I still love kids and my job, but I am ready to be around people my own age.  I can't wait to go back to Missoula!  I can't wait to hear everyone's crazy stories.  Sam and I agreed that, while we hated the day of lectures about workshops and business matters, we would gladly sit through an entire day of TADs (Tour Actor/Directors) past and present sharing their stories of life on the road.

When I was thinking about how I will home in CT in less than a week, it really hit me that I am not going back to college.  I am very glad to be done with school, but it's a very strange sensation, considering the fact that I have spent the last seventeen years of my life alternating between school year and summer vacation.  My entire life has been structured by an academic calendar.  Thank goodness MCT has touring seasons in a similar vein to college semesters.

Sam and I have decided to following the Oregon Trail probably as far as Laramie Wyoming before veering north to Montana.  First stop today? Independence MO, naturally.  Hopefully we won't contract cholera or typhoid fever along the way!

Forget the Cholera or Fever! Its those damn snakes that'll get you. Specially if you're a little girl. Every little girl I ever had died from a damned snake bite.
