The shows were great. Last nights audience was hilarious and this afternoon was pretty awesome too. This afternoon was definitely a cleaner show, but I think the energy was better last night. All the parents were so grateful and super helpful packing up after the show. The props table collapsed back stage in the middle of the second show which resulted in some chaos, but nothing major, and in retrospect all very funny. The kids were apparently trying to kill each other out in the hallways (it was too tight to keep them backstage) and Brendan got completely abandoned by ALL of the parent volunteers. But what are you gonna do. Overall, awesome first week back on the road. And now I have no energy at all and do not want to do anything for the rest of the night. Of course, that could be a result of having not had any coffee today.

ambiguity
I know. You want to know about the shows. But first, a tale. We did our workshops on Thursday. Two creative dramatics and one improv. Well you see, our second creative dramatics workshop was a group of second graders, and I was asking for the kids to demonstrate how they might make a surprised face with the imaginary strings stuck on their faces. I called on a kid who pulled the strings in a very strange manner and said "wow, she's got a crazy surprised face!" or something to that effect and all the kids yelled at me "that's a he!" Then later, I was calling on kids to be the cast in the story/play "Princess Penelope and the Dragon" and I called one little kid saying "yes ma'am" and low and behold, that ma'am was actually a sir. ::sigh:: Parents need to give their kids better hair cuts.
