I'm sure my myriad of avid readers have given up on me. Well truth be told I had a really hard tour last fall and rarely felt very inspired to write. In that week, right after the glorious, glorious election, everything started going wrong. We had a fabulous show, but the adults were simply incapable of communicating and we never knew where our workshops were supposed to be, had to move homestays in the middle of the week and one of us almost had to move again because when we showed up at the new homestay, the dad showed us the room (singular) that we would be staying in. In case you don't know, we have to have separate rooms.
But that's all in the past now, as is everything that happened on fall tour and in 2008 in general. All in all, it was a pretty mediocre year. The end of it was definitely the absolute worst ending to a year ever. A lot of really horrible things happened, that I am just not up to discussing here yet again.
But it's 2009 now and that world renowned authority Josh Brown has declared it the year to "live for the story". 2008 was "what are you waiting for?" and I waited and let it pass me by. So I resolve to let this be the year to live for the story. And what better way to do so than to relish in all of my experiences, and live for the story I have to tell of each day be it good or bad?
Okay but aside from being preachy/philosophical/slightly depressing, I am in Oregon and it is snowing. The kids here have not had school in three weeks, because with the way the holidays fell, they had two weeks off for Christmas and had the week before that cancelled due to inclement weather. Yikes. So we're gonna have a bunch of tired kids tomorrow, since they've all grown so accustomed to staying up way past their bedtimes. If we even have kids tomorrow at all. If we get delayed a day I am going to STRONGLY suggest vetoing the Friday night show in favor of two on Saturday...that is if we can have Saturday shows at all, which we don't know, because no one has been at the school to confirm whether or not we can use the space on Saturday. Again, yikes.
Since I am going to write in my blog every day possible from now on, I will let you know how all that goes.
