The kids here are sweet, and we have a lot of really talented older girls. So I am definitely not concerned about them getting the show together by Friday. Plus, so far, they seem to understand that "be quiet" means just that. And they respond extremely well to the clapping quiet signal. Which is always a plus.
Our personal funny story of the day: our contacts were playing a name game with the kids to help them all get to know each other. Well the way the game worked is that a kid had to say their name with another word that started with the same letter and do a motion. They got a five year old called Audrey. They attempted to suggest some things, like "awesome" and "aardvark" to her but she came up with something on her own: "animalkavow." Not having any idea what that was Leslie asked her what it looked like and little Audrey proceeded to cross her arms in from of her nose and flail them kind of like a child pretending to be an elephant but with two trunks. It was a lot funnier to see that it sounds on paper. And if anyone has any idea what she might have meant by "animalkavow", please let me know.
We went out to dinner with Leslie and Jonathan tonight at one of the Mexican restaurants they had recommended to us. Jonathan told us one of the most hilarious tour stories to date so I feel that I need to share:
In Canada, their contact told them she would meet them in her blue van at one of the grocery stores in town, that was one of a big chain of Canadian grocery stores. So they go to the parking lot and are looking around for this blue van and it's nowhere to be found. The only thing they see that looks remotely promising is this man who is wandering around the parking lot, clearly looking for something or, they think someone. They thought maybe something had come up and their contact had sent her husband. So Jonathan gets out of the car and says this: "Hey are you looking for someone? Because you look like you might be looking for someone. And I know I am looking for someone, so maybe we are looking for each other?" The man gave him a very strange look and said "No thanks," and booked it, leaving Jonathan very confused until he realized that the man had, uh, misinterpreted what he had just said. Turns out their contact was waiting for them, in her blue van, at a DIFFERENT mega-grocery store chain.
(to hear Jonathan tell the story was just priceless- Sam and I laughed about it the whole drive home)
And in other good news- Texas called: they are sending us a photo CD of all the photos they took during the rehearsal process and show. More importantly, they found Sam's phone. It seems to have ended up in the orchestra pit (which was raised during our show) somehow. She still needs to get a new phone, but at least she should be able to retrieve her sim card with all her numbers programmed in.
'Twas a good day in the life of RR1.

Casey and I are spending the winter in California.
Are you and Sam both switching to Mermaid? Or will you have a new partner, since Sam is going to Mexico?
