major life update

Right...so I had planned on writing more about my adventures last night, but after the audition and our first rehearsal session, I was totally wiped and couldn't do anything but space out in my room and watch the history channel.  I don't even watch the history channel.

Let's see...I'll start with my last night in Missoula.  Well SECOND to last night really, when we had the big send off party/bar night.  It was a blast.  Our bosses all came out with us, and it was totally awesome.  It made me feel like I was really a grown-up, now that my bosses can let loose a little and have a drink with me, without feeling like the constantly have to set a good example.  And pretty much ALL of the actors went out to a bar down the street once we had kicked the (albeit, very small kegs) that we had in the lobby of the theatre.  It was great to hang out with everyone one last time.  I seriously made some awesome, awesome friends during my slightly less than two week training period.

The next day, I climbed a mountain.  Who knew that that was the world's best cure for a minor hangover?  Mount Sentinel is right by the dorms we were staying in at the University of Montana and there is a gigantic M about a third of the way up.  If that.  I had hiked the M a couple night earlier, and had set off with four others intending to do the same that day.  But then we decided to keep going.  And going.  And going.  And going, until we got so close to the top, it would have been a waste to turn around.  Well as it turns out we hiked up 1,958 feet.  The winds up there were INSANE the air was definitely a lot thinner.  It was one of the coolest things I've ever done.  I am totally doing it again when I go back to Missoula for check-in.

On Saturday Sam and I started driving.  We thought it would be a great idea to caravan down to New Mexico with Emily and Evan, who were also going to New Mexico, but unfortunately they were going MUCH further east than us.  Too bad we realized this AFTER we started driving.  So we lost some time backtracking to get on the road to Idaho (which, by the way, is possibly the most boring place I've seen in my life- it was SCARILY barren-I am still not entirely convinced that anyone actually lives there...).  We got to Sandy around 7:00 and had a fabulous evening from there on out (even if Ceal did drive us the wrong way down a one way street in a honest endeavor to show us the St. Patrick's Day parade route though Salt Lake City.  It was so fantastic to see Ceal, David, Amy, Julia, etc.  I haven't seen any of them in about five years, and sitting out on the porch making s'mores around the fire pit while Ceal very enthusiastically explained the irregularity of the moon in Utah, made me realize just how much I have missed the whole family.  I hope I can get back there soon- one night was just NOT enough!

On a side note, I was absolutely fascinated by my mini-tour of temple square (plus so excited that I got to take pictures in front of the temple where Amy is getting married in a month and a half!).  I need to go back there in the day time when I can actually go inside the buildings and not just peak in the windows (Sam was too short to see over the ledge, so I had to pick her up so she could see inside).

Then we drove and drove and we saw canyons, and canyons, and some more canyons, then semi-desert and all of a sudden GREEN! as we drove through a little corner of Colorado.  Equally as abrupt was the change-over from green to total, sandy desert as we crossed over the boarder in to New Mexico.  Well about an hour in to New Mexico, we finally got back on an interstate for the first time in I'd say about 7.5 hours.  We arrived starving, met up with our trainer and got some delicious Mexican food for dinner.

The funny thing about the air force base is that it's right in the middle of a city.  I had expected it to be, ya know, all secluded and surrounded by desert, but no.  You drive out the gate and down the street and you're at the super classy out-door mall, complete with a BCBG, MAC cosmetics store, and some designer denim label place I have never even heard of.  Good thing I am too exhausted to go shopping!

To be continued....after dinner (which will probably be something very exotic along the lines of peanut butter and jelly).
