pay-off

So last week was fabulous.  That's old news.  This week has been great great GREAT in terms of our living situation, but a tad more frustrating on the job.  But I must say, this week, in the end, is turning out to be pretty darn rewarding.

On a sad note, we had to kick a kid out of the show today.  We asked too many times to keep his hands to himself.  Sam warned him that if he touched someone inappropriately, whether it be remotely violently or, sad to say it, sexually, he would be out of the show.  And then he did.  Apparently one of the girlfriends told him he was going to get in trouble and he replied that he didn't care.  So we kicked him out.  Sam was much more broken up about it than I was.  For some reason, I have not gotten very emotional at all as of late.  I can't remember the last time I cried.  It's weird.

But other than that little blip, today was fabulous.  I was so SO proud of the kids today.  Especially during the second run-through.  They were loud and expressive and landing almost every one of their lines.  They were clearly having fun on stage and are so excited for tomorrow.  We even got through the run so quickly and smoothly, that we got to do the beginnings of a silly through in the last half-hour of rehearsal.  I am so proud of how far this group has come.  I think many or even most of these kids have never been in a show before, and I don't think anybody would know it.

Our accompanist (who is fabulous, we've been so lucky!!) asked me today if I was working on my masters or if I had already graduated.  I told her I had actually just finished my undergrad and this was my first job out of college.  It was so amazing to say "I love my job" and really mean it.  She said, it showed and that I was doing a fabulous job.  I hope that at some point everyone can feel as happy and useful as I do right now.

Isn't it cool that we like our jobs so much?

We were close to having the same sort of problem with a young man here. Pats on the back to you and Sam for having to cut the cord. That's really too bad.
