The kids continue to crack me up. All of the wolfgang were asking about their costumes today and I told them if they guessed right I would tell them, but otherwise they would have to wait until saturday morning. It was very entertaining, especially since there is absolutely no way they could guess that they'd all be in poet shirts, overalls, and bowler hats (with wolf ears, of course).
After our first run today, the boy playing Little Lovable Wolf asked me if he could see the Woodsman's sunglasses. I said okay and took him over to the props table to look at them (along with the little boy who killed the rabbits). Before he put them on he said "I wonder if they'll have the same affect"....I can only guess he meant, if he put on the glasses, would all the girls be swooning over him? like Red and the Girlfriends pretend to do on stage. He put on the glasses and combed out his hair, like the Woodsman does in the "Red Riding Hood" song. It was pretty priceless.
The accompanist's siblings are all phenomenal. Her little brother, who is one of the raccoons, ranks among the cutest children I have ever seen in my life. Raccoons weren't called for the second rehearsal today, but he stayed with his older sisters and watched the second run-through. He was joy to watch. He LOVES the show. He sang along and danced the entire time. And laughed just as much as I did at the Woodsman (who was seriously a RIOT in the extreme-through: he's definitely doing it that way in the show!). The little brother also seemed to take note of the fact that when I think something is extremely funny, not only do I laugh, but I also clap my hands slowly a few times: so the next time I was cracking up at the Woodsman, little brother was laughing right along with me and clapping his hands too.
It's gonna be tough to leave here...but we did just talk to our homestay for our next residency AND they are going to feed us! Wahoo!
