sort of like home

Last night, after our fabulous shows, we went into the city and met up with fellow tour actors Casey and Jake.  The thing I have noticed about the west is that they LOVE to do construction in the summer.  We drove around in squares for about 20 minutes before our GPS realized that it was impossible to make a right turn anywhere in the city.  Despite the frustrating commute, it was so awesome to see them and compare stories.  We've had a lot of almost eerily similar experiences, despite being in different communities and doing different shows.

Today we drove about four and a half hours across the state of Colorado.  The area we are in actually looks more like Arizona than Colorado.  It certainly FEELS like a desert outside.

We are in a fabulous homestay.  The family has three kids, all girls, all of whom have their own bathrooms and enormous walk-in closets.  I am in an awesome room in the basement with a daybed that is almost identical to the one I had as a child, a mini-fridge and micro-wave and my own bathroom.

This evening we played "Apples to Apples: Kid's Edition" with the two younger daughters.  I was impressed at how very witty the nine year old was.  The adjective was "ugly" and she played "Snow White".  Yay for kids understanding irony!  Had I been the judge, she certainly would have won the card.  She also played "My Grandma" for the adjective "Rough", since well, grandma isn't smooth...and here I was thinking I was going to have to take the game literally with my young competitors!  I think "LIFE" is on the agenda for tomorrow evening.
